It was 1959. I was 16 years old. I can't believe my parents dared to send me so far away. And since I have been the mother of three boys growing up I understand it even less. How much did you know about me then, who was I then?

I came from a little village in the middle of Sweden, I had never seen a house taller than three floors. My father was "kantor" (organist and church choir director) of the church, teacher of the children. My mother was the second teacher of the village children. I was the middle daughter of three, shy, serious, dreaming. And very scared. Suddenly I became The Foreign Student. I had to capture all my forces, forget all my fears, and live up to your expectations. I hope I could give you some air from the world I came from. I had a wonderful year with you. America was a completely different world to me, I had never watched TV, eaten a pizza, or been to a Drive-in-movie. You all seemed so rich, gifted, present in another world. You accepted me as a member of your team and I loved it. You gave me an experience and a different view. I came back home as a different individual. My father said I had grown five years in one year. Then what?

When I came back my family had moved to Lund, a university city in southern Sweden. I went back to the Swedish school, studied Latin, Ancient Greek, German, French and English (I had a tolerant English teacher, she said if I kept would be consequent talking my American accent she would accept it), science. Medical school, tough studies. I met Rolf, Thee Man of My Life, we married, I had two children during studies, Erik born –67 and Anders –71 and then Gustav –74 after medical school. Rolf studied law and economics. He got a job in Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, one of the leading commercial banks of Sweden. I got a job at the University Hospital of Malmoe.

1983 we said to each other: "Is this it? Is this what we want to do the rest of our lives?"

We answered no. Rolf applied for a job abroad. Within a short time he was offered a new job and we moved to Sydney, Australia for three years. I left my position as senior physician in rheumatology and decided to have three years off, spending time with our three sons. But once they had settled down in their Australian schools and social life I looked around for contacts within medicine and especially rheumatology. I met professor Peter Brooks, holding the only chair of rheumatology of Australia by that time. He had an idea about Patient Education and we started a programme introducing that in Australia.

Once again experience from abroad changed my life. I came back with new ideas. Our boys had grown up and and I could start an academic career. It took me ten years to complete a Ph D in medicine under the title "Patient Education in Rheumatoid Arthritis", once again hard work, tough life and discipline. It was worth it. Today I work four days a week as a private rheumatologist, taking care of patients with chronic disabling disease. I find it rewarding, everthing I do is better than what they would have without a specialist in rheumatology. One day per week I spend at the University Hospital, responsible for patient education but also education of medical students, registrars and interns. I love my work and I even believe I contribute to the well-being of some individuals with chronic disease. My work has given me opportunities to visit meetings of rheumatology all over the world, Europe, Asia, Australia and South and North America. I usually attend the American College of Rheumatology every year, last year in Philadephia, next year in New Orleans.

Our sons have grown up, they have finished their studies at university, Erik in Economics, Anders in technology and Gustav Humaniora and Computer Science. Rolf is a senior bank man and can choose to do what he is good at and the bank needs, at the time and effort he chooses to offer. We are back in Lund, the old university town. It is similar to Princeton (which I visited when I was in Philadelphia last year). If you happen to come this way, let me know!

So all in all my 42 years since I left you have been quite exciting. I wonder what my my life had been if I had stayed in that little village in the country, if I had not dared to take the chance of being the Foreign Student of Class of 1960 of Fulton High School.

After high school I went to St. Bonaventure University and then to graduate school at Penn State. Met my wife, Grace, there. She was from Pittsburgh and that's how I eventually ended up here. Because of my college ROTC commitment, I went into the Army (Artillery) and spent time at Fort Sill Oklahoma, Fort Bragg North Carolina, and, unfortunately, Viet Nam. Survived that and came back to Pittsburgh where I began a banking career with Mellon Bank. Have been with Dollar Bank for the last 20 years. I run our Corporate Banking and Leasing divisions.

We have two children: John went to Cornell (he had to see what Central NY was like and loved it). He met his wife there. She is from Seattle and that's where they live now. He works for a software development firm, Voicebox, and she is in her 1st year of pediatric residency at Children's Hospital.. My daughter, Katie, went to University of Michigan and now works for America On Line in Chicago. My wife, Grace, is the coordinator of the gifted students for our local middle schools.

Picture shows my wife, Grace; daughter-in-law, Whitney Roose Anderson; son, John; daughter, Katie, and me.

We won't be retiring for about 3 years. I have three sisters in Naples, Florida...so I suppose we'll be spending some time there in retirement. Both Grace and I (well, maybe just me) are golf addicts.

What a delightful surprise to get John's letter telling me about this site. I've noticed a smile spread across my face for a half hour now. I believe I can pick out Gail Anthony and Marietta Loomis in the picture. And of course I can pick out Howie. I've been married 35 years to Melford Wilson who serves as Academic Vice President of Winthrop University. We have three children, all married, with one grandchild. Our daughter is in NYC; our youngest son is in New Orleans; and our oldest son is in Waynesville, NC. We are healthy and overweight (Melford and I are) I teach school - elementary level, gifted and talented program. I'm feeling tired of doing it for the first time and am buying in years for retirement. Maybe in two more years, I can swing it. Glad to be part of this site. Hope all is well. Janet

Here we are in all our glory. Back row: daughter Marion, Son Melford with wife Amy, son John with wife Liz. Front row, me, Melford both holding Brooks our grandson (Melford and Amy's boy) Marion is working on her phd in theater in New York. John and Liz have taught a year in China and are now settling in New Orleans looking for work. They have degrees in Fine Arts and Creative Writing. Know anyone in NO looking for talented young people to hire? Melford and Amy are social workers in Waynesville, NC nestled in the mts. west of Asheville.

Hi Folks:

As I told many of you at the reunion, I worked as a library clerk for 25 years. Then my boss retired early and unexpectedly. I was promoted to his position and am currently working on a Master's Degree in at S.U. so I will no longer be "credentially challenged." I expect to graduate in '03. I'm the poster child for "lifelong learning." Built for distance instead of speed, I guess.

I manage a small library that serves 12,000 people a year and includes two computer labs. The Internet has made this a very challenging time to work in the "information" professions.

Work and school take up most of my time but I still enjoy my life alot. Intend to work until I fall face-first into the library glue...

I'd be happy to hear from anyone who wants to write....

The reunion was great and I'm looking forward to the next. We said 2005, didn't we?

Although I graduated from Penn Hall in Chambersburg, PA I love going to 'our' reunions and seeing everyone. After PH I went to Rochester Business Institute. Married in 1963, divorced in 1997 (he split 7 yrs ago). We have 6 children and 7 grandchildren, going on 8 next month. I have  worked on & off over the years (mainly to keep my sanity). The kids are great, but it was a challenging job. My oldest daughter is a housewife, mother of 3 and home schools, she and her family live in Ossining, NY. Oldest son is married sans children. Mark attended SUNY Canton with a diploma in Electrical Construction & Maint and then decided he wanted to drive tractor-trailer. He and his wife live in Fulton. Next in line is Julie who is a single mother of 3. She is attending Cayuga Comm. College full-time (Accounting) and works part-time, lives in Hannibal. Phil was in the Army Reserves, is married with one toddler and one on the way. He owns E-Z Way Oil change in Oswego & Hannibal and Sommers Auto Sales. Tim attended Morrisville 2 years (Mechanical Tech), is unmarried, a plumber and has his own plumbing business on the side (both residential and commercial.) He lives with me and helps with all those maintenance tasks. Amy the youngest, is single, also attended CCC, works in E. Syr and is presently studying medical transcription, lives in Minetto. I took up sailing a few years ago and my son Mark & I go whenever we can. I have been a part-time student the past 5 years at CCC enrolled in the Studio Art & Design course. However, this semester I am only taking, Real Estate Sales and hope to start selling next year and resume my part-time studies in art. I recently signed up with a temp agency and hope to be working soon. For the past 10 years I have been going to Florida in the winter for a few weeks - I stay with my friends in Ft. Myers (in Town & River). Sounds like we should have a reunion in Florida. Thanks John for this great site! Great idea!

After FHS I attended SUNY Oswego and got an undergraduate degree in education and a Master's degree in school counseling. After working as a teacher and later as a school counselor in Oneida, in 1969 I moved to Florida and received a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Florida State University in 1971. I took a faculty position at Florida Atlantic University, a medium sized (25,000 students) state university in Boca Raton, Florida and have been there ever since. In those 30 years, I have been a faculty member, a department chairperson, and an associate dean of the College of Education. I have been able to keep my hands dirty by also operating a landscape nursery and palm tree farm for the past 16 years.

I was married to the former Barbara Johnson (class of 1960) for a number of years. Our only child Claudia was killed in an automobile accident in 1991.

My wife Mary and I have been married 22 years and have just finished building a new home in the North Carolina mountains where we plan to retire very soon. We may be the only ones not retiring in Florida.

The web site is a great idea. Here's a picture from a couple of years ago. I'm much younger now.

I am still employed by Oswego County Department of Social Services as a social Welfare Examiner.  My husband is semi-retired and is, of course, a photographer like my father was.  I have 3 children.  Jim, who is 1st meat cutter for TOPS Market, Carol, who is a Secretary at Oswego Hospital Mental Health Division, and Kevin who is employed by DAL Tile in Londonderry, New Hampshire.  I have 5 grandchildren aged 17, 15, 11, 5 and 3 years of age.  My 15 year old grandson drives a micro-sprint race car and has been driving race cars since he was 4 years of age.  He started racing in 1/4 midget cars just like Jeff Gordon did.  Racing is a big part of our life now because my husband has gone from car owner to race photographer to car owner again with our grandson.  I currently enjoy doing counted cross stitching and have won several blue ribbons at the Fair for my work.  I expect to continue working because I enjoy  the job I currently hold.  I have worked for Oswego County since 1972.  I t was good to hear from John [Anderson], since we seemed to always be in the same home room since he was A and I was B.

[Editor's Note: Lora is retiring as of 1/31/02.  She looks forward to doing some traveling now that she has the extra time.]

What a nice surprise! great job on the website John. Jerry and I are one of the {lucky ones}. We both threw in the towel and are retired. Jerry and I have been married for 24 years. After H.S. I graduated from CCBI in Syracuse. I've had a variety of jobs from telephone operator to grading apples. I also worked at Rubbermaid in Cortland before they closed the plant. We have one son from my first marriage. His name is Louis Wallace. He graduated from Oswego State and is employed by Lockheed Martin as a Software Design Engineer. My husband Jerry has a part time job at the hospital in Cortland which keeps him busy. I enjoy garage sales, auctions and scouring the countryside for treasures. I hope to start selling on E Bay. Also I enjoy geology research. Almost forgot the other member of our family. He's a yellow nape Amazon parrot named Cassidy. Its like having a two year old around that never grows up. Sometimes good and sometimes bad but we love him. I might have some old school! pictures if I can find them. Jane Abraham Miller.

P.S. In the 40th reunion picture I'm the {blonde} in the back row.

You’ve done a great job on the website, John. I’ve been away from Fulton for quite a number of years and it’s interesting to know what some of our classmates have done since graduating from high school. It was fun to get out the yearbook and look at how everyone looked back in 1960. I attended SUNY Oswego and after graduation, taught in Webster, New York for 9 years. I met my husband, who is Canadian, while skiing in Vermont. We married in 1973 and moved to Woodstock, Ontario. After teaching full time there for a couple of years, I took some time off when our children were born. When our children started school, I went back to teaching part time—preschool then substituting. My husband Dave and I have been married for 28 years and have two daughters. Deb is 26 and, like her dad, graduated in engineering. She is currently working in Toronto as a product manager for a software company based out of California. Jennifer is 24. She did her undergraduate degree in kinesiology and then, following in her mother’s footsteps, went on to get a degree in education. She decided to experience a different culture, and is teaching in a private school in Monterrey, Mexico for the year. Both Dave and I are officially retired. Our current project is renovating our house and, since both daughters have now graduated, we hope to do some more traveling. I enjoy crafting and am currently trying to do some work on family history. The internet genealogy sites have been a great help. Hopefully, more people will take this opportunity to tell their fellow classmates what they’re now doing with their lives. Thanks John for taking the time to set up this website.

After high school I attended Ottawa Univ. in Kansas City.  Ted Woehr also was there.  I stayed a year and 1/2 playing football, the I broke some finers and had surgery.  Went home to Fulton, then decided to play ball for Ithaca College.  One of the first persons on the team I saw, John Churchill, was Honey's (my wife's) brother.  After Ithaca I ended up at nestle.  That is where I met my first wife who lived in Oswego.  Got married and moved to Oswego and started at Hammermill.  It is now International Paper Co.  I took a 5 year course and became an electrician.  By the way, I love my field and my job.  I am foreman of the electric shop (got to brag a bit).  International Paper is the largest paper company in the U.S.; right now my electric shop is first in the U.S. with a few more months to go---wish me luck.

Now to start I have 6 children and one stepson.  Here goes: Judy is a beer distributor in Oswego; Sue graduated from Auburn and is the manager of Walmart in Oswego.  She worked her way up; Missy and her husband own a construction company in Sterling, NY; Christine is graduate of Oswego State and works at Pathfinder Bank in Oswego.  She's working on her Masters to teach college English.  Now my boys: John graduated from Canton (takes after his old man) and is an electrician at Alcon in Oswego.  Then our youngest graduated from Oswego State and is a social worker of the County of Oswego with a Criminal Justice degree.  In 1996 I divorced my wife.  Honey Churchill Parkhurst's husband, Bob, was in management at Morrill Press in Fulton (dick Hopman, Kay's husband worked with him).  In the bad storm of 1993 Bob fainted and fell off the roof.  He could only talk from then on.  Honey kept him home doing all his care.  It was in all our papers.  I sent cards and encouragement to them both, besides praying for them.  We were friends in high school; Bob the class of 1959, me the class of 1960 and Honey the class of 1961.  Because of my large family I worked 18 years on Saturday night security at the Owego Speedway.  Well some race times Honey's son brought Bob in a a van in his wheel chair as racing was his love and no one knew how much time he had left.  I went over every week to talk over our FHS times. Football was both of our loves and, of course, racing.  Then help Honey and her son load him in the van for home.  Three years we met like that every Saturday night.  Bob passed away in October of 1995.  Honey and I kept in touch.  Then in 1999 Honey had a very serious type of cancer in both breasts.  She lost her breast; plus every 3 weekends for one year she went for 5 hour chemo.  I went with her mother through them all.  In 1998 we married.  Chemo was every hard, and the side effects have been awful.  Cartilage in spine is gone.  Had to have both knee replaced, then broke her femur.  All in a year and a half.  She uses a walker and cane.  Wears pain patches.  Just found out 3 spots on liver and 2 in the pelvis.  Going for more tests to keep an eye on these.  The pelvis one is pre-cancerous.  Honey and Bob had two boys.  Rob Parkhurst, Jr. was on the Fulton Police Dept. and a drunk driver killed him at 20 years old.  Mike, my stepson, is Northeaster manager of E-Z-Go (Textron).  He sells and leases golf carts to State and private golf courses.  He just recently moved back to Fulton to spend quality time with his mom and me. We have 10 grandchildren...the two youngest are 6 months and one year old.  Honey and I are in our glory.  We love children.  My parents still live in our homestead on Old Rt. 57.  My only sibling, my sister Ginny Faucett, died last year of a massive heart attack at 56.  She and Honey were great friends.  They both graduated together in 1961.  I was lucky to find a wife the second time around that loves the same hobbies as I do: auto races and, of course, pro and college football.  We don't leave our chairs on Sunday.  We are both Christians and pray to God to give Honey many years to be with me.  She is my rock.  Oh, Honey says to tell you I took over her cellar with all my weight machines.  Yes, I still lift 3 times a week and still even have my college set.  They are still in great shape.  That's my passion ...lifting.  Well now old classmates, now you know what's happened to your classmate, Tom Bugow.

After college I joined the Air Force--retired after 22 years as a Lt Col. Some great assignments, some not so great. 3 years stationed in Hawaii made up for all the questionable ones.

Retired here in Mesa and gravitated to the securities brokerage business. Own the company now.

Can't see retirement on the horizon..having way too much fun. Play an inordinate amount of golf and ride my horse as often as I can.

My wife is a world class equestrian and has competed twice in the world championships. Our son works for Warner Brothers..lots of great Christmas gifts from the Warner Bros gift shop!

Hi Everyone! Isn't this a great idea? Thank you, John--just like you to do this! I plan to write more when I figure out where to start. Reading the profiles, I'm stunned to find out we are so grown up. I remember 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, etc. so well and, sometimes, it seems like yesterday. So many memories and I still feel like I'm seventeen on the inside when I drift back in time. My e-mail is k8weaver@aol.com and I would love to hear from people. I almost found Jackie Henry a while ago and I had a wonderful long chat with Phyllis Chiarelli once. Where is June Keiser? I hope "the girls" might get in touch with me--you know who you are! Love to Howie and Barry. Hi, Ellie Sheldon. Hello to Bill B and Eddie. To Tom Bugow and Honey, bless your hearts! I'll be thinking and praying for you. And for all of us, these days. Well, I guess I've written a lot, after all. I should say I am a psychotherapist, have a Master's in Clinical social Work and see couples and individuals. For last 3 years I have had my office at home. Husband, Peter, is a writer/journalist and works for himself, too, from home. We are so content with this arrangement, it's scary. We have to remember to get out and about. Guess I'll save the historical stuff for another time--is that the way it works, John?

I'm still working at Nestle Confections & Snacks (41 years last May - where or where has the time gone). I hope to work at least another 3 years so I can retire and collect Social Security. I am an Administrative Assistant in the Maintenance and Engineering Dept. There are many of our classmates who also work at Nestle.

My husband, Joe, and I have 3 children, Tim (36), Gina (34), and Joe (28). Gina has given us our only grandchild, James Michael (3). My husband retired last October and is enjoying every moment of his retirement. He is very active in the church. Tim, unfortunately is disabled with PPH (Primary Pulmonary Hypertension). He was diagnosed in 1996. My son, Joe, is a school teacher at Granby Elementary in his 3rd year. He teaches pre-first. My daughter, Gina, works at University Internists as a Medical Assistant.

One of my favorite pastimes is going to the casino. My aunt and I go to Atlantic City twice a year, and occasionally we get to Niagara Falls for day trips. Have never hit it big, but I enjoy trying.

Will update with an E-mail address as soon as I can. I'm using my son's computer, and I don't know what the address is.

Hope everyone is doing well, and what a great idea!!

I really wanted to get this out to you sooner, but in the aftermath of 9/11, watching, listening and reading has taken a high priority.  Did you ever dream we would be facing a threat this huge?  The 50’s sure sound good, don’t they?  On to the lighter side.

If was great to go through the info and see some “familiar faces”…I was especially glad to see Dick Maeder’s picture.  His sister, Kathy, was married to my brother, Bob, who passed away in ’80 at the age of 47.

It’s been so long and I’m trying to avoid making this sound like an Xmas letter, but will fill you in a little (I mean, 42 years is a damn long time!).  It’s not that I didn’t think about going back to reunions, but 3,000 miles is a long trip and we usually make it in the fall.  We never regretted moving to California from South Bend, Indiana in 1969 (the Central Coast is paradise), but miss the fall; so it satisfies us to “leaf peep” in Sept/Oct….visit my 88 year old mom, still on Fay St. and trek up to Lake Placid for a few days.

I lost contact with “the group” after the first few years of Xmas cards; however, have had recent Xmas letters from Phyllis Kesterke and had dinner with Sandy Menter 3 years ago in Lakewood Colorado while visiting brother Sami.  It was great.  She looked wonderful. Sami lost his wife to a brain tumor 5 years ago and has since moved to Dillon, Colorado.

Here are the Ahern family stats:  Chuck and I have been married 38 years…yikes!  And they said it wouldn’t last.  Two daughters, Mary Beth (left in picture), 34, and husband, Joe, married 8 years (no children).  Son-in-law Joe St. Amand's dad grew up in Oswego, 12 years and two blocks apart from Chuck…small world.  Joe and Mary Beth are Cal. Poly grads. He, Industrial Engineering…she, in Biology.  Mary Beth’s a tech for Cal. Dept of Agriculture.  Lee (far right), my other daughter, is 30…graduated from Cal. Poly two years ago with a degree in Human Development and teaches special ed.

I work very part time in a clothing boutique in Morro Bay, a small central coast town.  Very popular with tourists.  Chuck is retired and in the “social security club.”

Will there be a 45th reunion?  Think 50th is pushing it??  Be well.

Hi classmates,

Left Fulton in 1960 for Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Wisconsin. Been in Wisconsin, except for time off for good behavior, since 1966. Remember the fiery Rosemarie O'Conner English Teacher extraordinaire: Well I am an ordinary member of that dreaded species. I teach American Literature and Freshman Comp (mainly) at UWSP (University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point)--similar to Oswego State.

I like to play the piano and have made some money in the past doing it but not enough to give up my day job. I practiced being married three times before I got it right with my wife of 7 years. We have a large blended family with many interesting characters in it. I became a biological grandfather a month ago. Its great isn't it?

My wife is an excellent scrabble player who plays a lot online. I am a below average chess player who likes to play online.

Be glad to tell you more if you are interested. I am so pleased to find this website and to make new-old connections.

I love revisiting the Fulton area: it is beautiful and full of spots I associate with youth and dreams and energy.

Things have turned out very well for me; I hope the same for you.

Lynn "Max" Stewart

Hi everyone! It was a joy to attend the 40th and see a great number of friends I haven't seen in a long, long time. My wife of 33 years and I have lived in Baldwinsville for the past 25 years. We have two sons. Dan is 28, married and lives in Dearborn, Michigan. He has an MBA from Ohio State and is developing Ford's e-business ventures. Jon is 22 and is in his senior year of college at Rochester Institute of Technology, studying to be an Illustrator. My wife is an elementary school teacher, teaching third grade here in Baldwinsville for the past 23 years. I work for Anheuser-Busch in Baldwinsville as the Software, Applications and Products (SAP) Administrator. I develop and implement processes used in our Maintenance and Engineering Operations and interface those with the financial side of the operation. I've spent about 27 years in the beer business in all different capacities. Prior to that I've done just about everything but milk a Yak in Mongolia! That was because! I never got to Mongolia. There's still time after I retire within the next two years.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has the time and/or inclination to write. I don't know about the rest of you all, but my high school friends are the ones I remember and think about most. I believe we were a really great group of young men and women. From the looks of the bio's I've read, we all have a lot to be proud of.

John, thanks for taking the time to put this website together. I know it will give us all a golden opportunity to re-kindle relationships that time has dimmed and cooled.

Hello old classmates & friends! Here's my update of 41 yrs(not an easy task).

A few months after FHS I married the Navy (actually a sailor, but it's the same thing)...thus began my nomadic life. For the next 18 yrs I was on the move! I've lived in Brooklyn, NY...Washington, DC...Norfolk,VA...San Juan, Puerto Rico..Camp LeJeune,NC(4 times)...and I even lived in Fulton for a year--all before settling here in SC 25 yrs ago.

I was a "late bloomer" to the college scene...I went to college 3 mos. after my oldest child graduated from college! Never say die! Received my degree in Accounting in 1988.-But,the previous years were full of various jobs (since I moved so much). I've worked as a: bookkeeper...waitress (more times than I care to admit)...bartender ...accounting clerk (both AP & AR)...receptionist/switchboard...substitute teacher...stock display...assistant controller ...AND I've even "made the doughnuts"!!

I've been married twice...for almost 23 yrs the first time, 16 yrs this time. Not sure which spouse I like better...okay, so I married the same guy!!--We have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren (2 boys & 2 girls). Our oldest, Rhonda, graduated from Clemson University and taught high school Spanish for 14 yrs, before changing to elementary level where she now teaches the gifted students and also English as a 2nd language. Our younger daughter, Heather, has been a "jack of all trades" until settling into being a machinist.

I work very part-time now...creating store window displays and tutoring Algebra (Miss Anagnost would be proud!)-My husband works in Security with Duke Power.

That about catches you up...it's been a long time! --Thanks, John! Great to catch up with our old classmates!

What a great idea! I meant to do this sooner, but first was having problems with my phone going in and out and then my computer crashed.

I married Jim Enderby June 24, 1977, almost 25 years ago, which is hard to believe. {I was married to Bob Arnold for 14 years and had 3 children with him.} Together Jim and I have 7 children and 12, soon to be 13, grandchildren. Bob, my oldest, will be 38 in a couple of days. WOW, does that make me feel old! He lives in Medina and has 2 sons and a daughter. My middle child is Mike, he lives in Sarasota and has one daughter. He is 34. My daughter, Renee, is 31 and lives with her husband in Rochester with their daughter. They are expecting another child in April. Then Jim has 3 sons and a daughter ranging in age from 43 to 37 and the other 7 grandchildren are from that side. Is Christmas shopping ever fun and all of those birthdays I have to keep track of!!

I taught first grade in the Medina Central School District for 35 and a half years retiring in June of 1999. I then taught myself how to make teddy bears thinking I had to have something to do besides read books, clean, cook and bake. I started a business and then got a call about a job mentoring non-tenure teachers in the elementary buildings in Medina. I wasn't even going to go for the interview, but got talked into it. That interview, my first in 35 years, was a little stressful. When I was offered the job I still didn't think I wanted to do it. But, I took the job and I love it. I only work 50 days a year which is kind of nice. And, like my husband tells people, it gives me a reason to dress up 2 days a week plus I still get to see all my friends that I taught with for so many years. The ones I am close to still work.

I can't wait to read all the profiles that have been sent in, I thought Linda Arduini had disappeared off the face of the earth. Take care everyone. I'll be waiting for the info on the 45th reunion, there will be one, won't there?

After high school, I went to Oswego State, majoring in Ed/History. I then taught in Fairfax County, Virginia before moving to Long Island in 1966. On Long Island, I took a job teaching American History at the junior high level in the Farmingdale School District. I taught at the aforementioned school for 31 years before retiring in 1997. During my 31 years at Farmingdale, I coached soccer, basketball and lacrosse. I began coaching the Farmingdale varsity lacrosse team in 1968 and continue to coach it now, even though I am retired from teaching. I love it. I don't like dwelling on my accomplishments but I guess the purpose of this is to inform our former classmates of such things. I coached the 1992 U.S. Junior World Team to a gold medal (What a feeling that was especially being an American History teacher...my eyes got very teary when they played the Star Bangled Banner at the medal ceremony). Last year I won my 500th game which is 3rd on the all time list in the U.S. I was inducted into the Long Island Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1992. No, I never played lacrosse (great game by the way) but my basketball background helped immensely. I was married to Maria Claps in 1995 and have 3 children, Nancy 33, a math teacher, Greg 26, a technology teacher and Jill 24, an elementary teacher. I am currently co-owner of Four Star lacrosse camp and I'm enjoying my retirement greatly...playing golf, puttering around at home and coaching my lacrosse team We have a summer house on Lake Ontario @ Mexico, N.Y. where we enjoy much of the summer and take in those beautiful sunsets.

I am finally out of the classroom. This year the entire LA school system adopted a new reading series. In order to implement it completely they hired literacy coaches to help the teachers get started. So I am a literacy coach and I am enjoying it immensely. The down side is that I have to work many more days than a regular teaching schedule. When I complain Leigh says, "Welcome to the REAL world!"

Addendum: John requested more information...so here it is. I hope it is not more than anybody wants to hear.

Leigh and I were married right out of college and a year later, with a new baby (David) in arms we set off for the BIG City,.NYC. Leigh worked for AFS, I taught and David grew for 3 and a half years. Then Leigh decided it was time for a masters degree so we moved to CA where he went to USC and I taught. A year later(1971) Bill was born and we set off for Kenya, Africa.  Leigh had taken a job training Peace Corps volunteers. So we arrived there with a 6 year old and a three week old. After two months there we decided it would be a waste of a ticket to just go straight home so we traveled through Ethiopia, Egypt, Lebanon, Greece and Italy.  As you can imagine the mother in this group was pretty tired when we finally arrived back in CA. Leigh took a job with ACTION (umbrella agency for all federal, domestic volunteer programs and I taught. (Are you seeing a pattern here?). We stayed here for several years and then went to the Middle East for about 6 years in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Oman! and Egypt. Leigh can tell more about that if he ever gets around to it. David lives near by with his girl friend. He is an assistant cameraman and she is a set designer. Bill and his wife, Lisa, also live near by. They are both attorneys. I think our long marriage owes a lot to our many adventures. We still love to travel and spent three weeks in Italy this fall. Well, is this enough John? We are both enjoying all the profiles. Leigh has added several names to the 1951 Walradt photo.

This is a great site! I married the first time right out of school. After 10 years, I tried the single mom routine. I had 3 boys. Could not find suitable employment so I ended up back in high school to get my diploma and additional training at BOCES. I was 29 the second time around. The first time in high school I was very quiet & extremely shy. Can't say that for the 2nd hitch. I met my husband through one of my classmates at BOCES! We had one more child a daughter. Dave is employed at Nestles as a machinist. I worked for 27 years for the Department of Social Services. I was a Supervisor when I took early retirement due to health problems. We lost our oldest son in 1985 due to an automobile accident. We have 12 grandchildren. I spend a great deal of time with the younger kids. Dave and I vacation in Florida a lot because we love deep sea fishing. Being handicapped has not interfered with that, thank God. When not involved with the grandkids, I do a lot of crocheting, knitting and I love to listen to audio books while doing the craft work. Barb York told me about this site and I am so glad she did.

FHS_Diane_McCray.GIF (94942 bytes)Shortly after leaving High School I joined the Navy. I married my first husband while in the Navy and became pregnant which meant I had to get out of the Navy. Nine months and one day after having my first child I had my second. I was a stay at home mom for many years.

After 10 years of marriage I got divorced and began drinking heavily. I bummed around from job to job for three years then married again in an effort to get sober. During this marriage I found a 12 step program that helped me stop drinking.

After a second divorce I married again becoming an O'Brien and was married to him for ten years until his death. I drove a school bus for Red Creek Central during this time.

After my husband's death I went to college getting my AS degree and a certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling and today I have the right to put CADC after my name. All this while working full time. During this time I moved to CA to be near my children and to get away from the cold and snow of NY. I got a job with Glenn County Health Services as a substance abuse counselor just before graduation and have been there for 11 years. I am now the Senior counselor. I have also furthered my education earning many certificates and more letters, most of which I never use.

My oldest son Charles is about to retire from the Navy. Although he could have retired in October and the paper work was complete, he decided to stay instead of retiring after 9/11/01 and I am proud of his decision. He is currently a Master Chief.

My son, Mike, joined the Navy and learned to become an accountant during his 8 year stay. He continued his college after leaving the Navy and now works for a credit union as an accountant in Salinas CA.

Charlie and his first wife gave me three beautiful grandchildren and by his third wife a grandson. Mike and Ruth had only one child and he is very intelligent and handsome and his bowling average at age 14 is 210.

I married again about 4 years ago but he relapsed in his addiction and became violent and I left, so now I am divorced again. I still have family in NY but don't go back and visit often. We keep in contact via Email.

I love it here in CA. I love my work except for the paper work which every government job requires. I also love the life I have today. I am still active in the 12 step program and am always busy with friends or grandchildren.  My health is great and I walk for 20 minutes every day.

I would love to hear from some of you.

I attended Potsdam State Teachers College for two years and then married a Civil Engr. Clarkson grad Sam Castronovo in 1962. We spent three years in California before moving to Grand Ledge, MI where we have been for the last 37 years. I received a BA from Michigan State University in 1962 and an MA from Oakland University in 1965. I taught school for 11 years, mathematics and computer science. Moving on, I spent a year as a computer programmer for a local bank before starting work for the State of Michigan in Information Technology. I am retiring as of Jan. 31st leaving my current position as a Division Director with an IT team responsible for issuing the state payroll every two weeks. It's been fun and interesting but it is time to stop.

Sam and I have three children, two girls and a boy and five grand children ranging from 14 years to 2 months. The oldest daughter and son with their families live in North Carolina which is looking better every day. However, we are fortunate to have a daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren in Lansing, 15 minutes away.

Sam and I like to travel. We started by taking our 12,14 and 16 year olds to Europe for seven weeks a long time ago. The kids (in their thirties with children of their own) still talk about that trip! Since then Sam and I have been to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, China, Russia, Peru, Argentina and Paraguay. We hope to host two grad students from Russia this spring term who will attend MSU and then travel with them to meet their parents at the end of the term.

Sam retired nine years ago from the State Of Michigan Transportation Dept. but was recruited by a Chicago Engineering Firm to set up an engineering presence in MI for them. He set up and helps maintain an office of about 40+ people now and continues to work as a consultant, loving every moment of it.

In February I am going to Florida to be with my parents. At 95 and 96 they still live on their own, Mom is still driving so watch out if you are in either Zephyrhills, FL in the winter or Fulton in the summer. Brother Walter who graduated in 57 is retired and living in Evanston, IL and sister Margaret, class of 64 lives in the Syracuse area.

Guess this says it all, Sam and I spend time between Grand Ledge, Elk Rapids, MI (our summer home) and visiting North Carolina, living life to the fullest and trying to enjoy every moment.

FHS_Barry&Connie.jpg (120902 bytes)Kudos to John for taking time to remember his classmates and provide us a forum to keep in touch!

Well, the Tompkins have entered the 21st Century! We have finally given up Web TV, and given in to progress. We now have a new "megagazatz" memory computer. I always thought it was somewhat ridiculous to stand in front of one of these all day at work, then come home and sit in front of one for entertainment. Connie didn't agree and bought me one for Christmas. Vive progress!!

After high school, I attended the Albany College of Pharmacy, graduating in 1966. I am married to Connie (Cieszeski) Tompkins (FHS class of 1963).

Connie and I have two wonderful daughters, Amy (Tompkins) Johnston and Karey (Tompkins) Pine. Amy and her husband, Jon have one daughter, Audrey (3), and are expecting twins(!!) in June. Amy is a graduate of Cazenovia College and SUNY at Oswego. Prior to her "retirement," she was a Caseworker for the Oswego County Department of Social Services and then the Director of the Oswego County Youth Advocacy Program. Karey and her husband, Bill, have one daughter, Olivia (5 1/2). Karey graduated from William Smith College and earned her Master's Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology, where she is a department head at the National Technical Institute of the Deaf (NTID).

Connie, after 25 years at home, started working for the local county in 1988. She is currently employed by the County Emergency Management office. I am retired from Fays/Eckerd Drugs and currently employed by Rite Aid Drug Co as Pharmacy Manager of the store three blocks from my home.

As I peruse the profiles, I see many classmates who have not been in attendance at any of the reunions. Trust me folks, they are really loads of fun... I will expect to see each and every one of you at the 45th!!!

First, I'd like to thank John for setting up this web site. Great idea John! Also, there are some great pictures, brings many lots of great memories.

To those classmates who have not attended our class reunions, I would urge you to try and make the next one, everyone would love to see ya. I have attended all of them and each one has been terrific. A lot of the credit goes to our fellow classmates who spend so much effort in setting them up and getting in touch with everybody.

After High School, I joined the US Navy with classmates Joe Pollock and John LaPointe. I was sent to Electronic Technician School at the Great Lakes, Illinois Naval Station. While there, I had some great times with fellow sailors, John Stapley, Ed Coakley, and Mike Nadeau.

After completing training I was sent to the USS Canberra, a heavy guided missile cruiser. I made a 7 month Mediterranean cruise and 2 week Caribbean cruise. This was a great way to travel. You could go ashore in a foreign port, blow all your money, and as long as you could get back to the ship, you knew you had a place to sleep and 3 square meals a day. What a great carefree life! But the winds of change were in the air.

The fall of 1962 saw the Cuban missile crisis arrive. I was yanked off my ship and flown to the island of Trinidad, to set up a CRYPTO Communications center to support the naval ships on the blockade. This turned out to be a life altering experience.

While finishing out my enlistment in Trinidad, I met my wife of 38 years, Joyce. (Those tropical islands do things to ya.) Upon returning to Fulton in 1964, I found no jobs available, so I moved to Rochester. I worked for IBM 30 years as a Field Engineer, retiring in 1995. I was then encouraged by IBM to start my own computer company and become an "IBM Business Partner." I've been running A G Open Systems for 6 years now and am having a ball. I haven't developed an exit strategy yet, so I don't know when I will really retire.

Joyce and I had 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl. Two boys work for IBM, one works for Penske, and my daughter is a personal trainer for Ballys. We have 4 granddaughters ages 1 to 7. We really enjoy the grandchildren.

Many of you knew my younger sister, Gayle. She lives in Raleigh, NC and is a Director for IBM. ( guess she had all the brains ).

Joyce and I enjoy traveling, and frequently turn business trips into mini vacations. We also enjoy gardening and collecting antiques.

As I look back at my childhood, I feel very grateful. What better time was there to grow up than the 50's, and what better place than Fulton, NY.

I graduated from SU with a BS in Elementary and Special Education in 1964. I married John Taylor in '62 and after teaching K (Syracuse) and 3rd grades (Orchard Park, NY), started a family and stayed home till they were both in school. I then volunteered at a new school for handicapped children, ages 18 mo to 7 yrs, in Andover, MA., They asked me to be their first teacher then the Educational Coordinator. I loved the job even though it didn't pay well and I received few benefits. I learned more about the strength of the will and love for life from those children than any other experience I have had. I attended Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary part time in early 80s. Due to the realities of a divorce in 1986, I finished my masters degree in Educational Administration at Lesley College in Cambridge. I moved back to Fulton in '87 and worked for Oswego County Boces for several years in the Special Ed dept. Once I had enough time in to get into the retirement system of ! NYS, I moved on to be the Special Services Coordinator with Oswego County Head Start...loved it but traveling throughout the county was getting to me and retirement looked good, so I have been a busy homemaker since 1998. To go back a few years, Vern and I dated in High School and as fate intervened we dated again for several years then married in 1994. Our three children stood up with us and we have been having a great time ever since. My son Jay is a physician, just finishing up his residency in internal medicine and will be the Chief of Staff next year at the Berkshire Medical Center. He and Becky have Spencer (age 1 1/2) and are expecting in May. He then plans to do a Neurology residency. Anne, my daughter, is her kids' Mom to Emma (age 31/2) and Charlotte (2 mo). Erik is the Dean of Studies at Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Wilbraham, Ma. YES! the home of Friendly's ice cream...yummy! Matt, Vern's son, is a CPA and the VP/Comptroller of Nicholas Enterprises in Butler, PA. He and Samatha have Olivia (age 4) and Eliza (age 9 mo.) I am delighted to be able to take off and visit, baby sit and be a Grammy. Erik is of Swedish decent so I am Mor Mor (Mothers mother) to their kids. My basement resembles a preschool thanks to teaching little ones. Vern and I have enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland and best of all, the City of Prague..we highly recommend it! We have a condo on Ft. Myers Beach which we consider Paradise. I enjoy gardening, bird watching, and photography. Vern is still President of Oswego Valley Insurance which includes Streeter and Van Sanford, Dowd and Harrington, and Barrett Agency. He is our church's Financial officer, is a Fulton Savings Bank trustee, on the SUNY Oswego Council and participates in Politics. He says he'll never retire...we'll see! We all grew up in the 50s and now know that life has changed forever. I pray we will all be able to instill some of our memories into the lives of our grandchildren, yet at the same time move forward with faith, hope and love. See you at the next reunion...and for those of you who visit at other times, give a call. Gail

I married soon after high school and divorced  after one daughter and two sons.  As some of you will remember, John and I were High School sweethearts.  He, too, had married, divorced, and was raising his two sons alone while trying to also juggle an Air Force career, when he learned I'd  remained close to his parents.  Home on leave to see his parents, we met and were surprised to learn the old sparks were still quite lively.  So it was that I left the home area for the first time in my life, hauling a U_HAUL and three kids in tow to take on two more sons and the role of military spouse.  Man, did I learn a lot and fast!! Those of you who were in the military can understand that I never did accept stripes on my shoulders emotionally or other wise.  Being a wise a--  I lost no time in locking horns with the base commander of all people.  And my new lifestyle was off on a run!!!  That's all behind us now. Nothing but memories and experiences .  I can only wish more of our countrymen could experience life  in another country; gives one a whole new outlook on life and a gratitude for what we as Americans enjoy.  Since retiring in 1985 we have just sort of laid back and enjoyed our little toy business.  John makes wood toys which we sell at craft fairs.  And guys, don't believe the bull that it's a different world than we grew up in.  Our best selling items are rubber band guns!  Yes, we make several different types of small toys.   Our kids are, of course, grown and gone.  My only natural grandchild, compliments of my daughter, is nearly twenty one.  John's natural sons each have one child, one a girl and one a boy.  Want to really have some fun?  Both of our oldest sons, as were both our fathers, are named John!  Oh, but that was fun!!!   Well guys, this was difficult for me to start but where to stop?  Here seems like a good spot.   My complete  thanks to you John  for getting this site up and I hope to hear from many of you in the near future.  Write or e-mail me at will!

I have worked in a multitude of "careers."  During and after college I waitressed, then taught for seven years, progressed to full time motherhood, then retail, industry, secretarial, two different jobs (one of them administrative) in substance abuse prevention education, and finally, town librarian.

My passion is interior decorating.  I also refinish furniture and collect antiques.  My husband is a school superintendent.  We live in a very rural, economically depressed but beautiful area in the southern tier of Western N.Y.S.  We have 3 daughters and 2 grandsons in their late teens.  We are also involved in ministry (Episcopal).  My husband has been ordained a deacon and will become a priest in October.  I might even pursue ordination myself, eventually.

I was sorry to have missed our last reunion. It coincided with my middle daughter's wedding and my mother's death.  I was living in Fulton with my mom for six months and that was kind of fun.  I went on a lot of "nostalgia drives."

John, thanks for creating a web site and doing all of this correspondence.  It is a wonderful gift to the rest of us.  Because of Charlie's work I have seen a lot of classes come and go over the years, but I still think we had something special.  Apparently, you do, too.

Tommy Bugow, now a relative (of sorts) by marriage...or I should say remarriage...filled me in on the reunion of 2000.  Sounded like a great time was had by all.  Charlie's email is shown above.  You can send me stuff through him and he will bring it home, but I am working on getting set up at home.  I really need it because I do a lot of work with the diocese.  I will let you know when I do.  With gratitude, Bonnie.

Attended undergraduate school at Michigan State, graduate school at SUNY-Albany and law school at Catholic University.  Worked for D.C. Government as a hearing examiner for the rent control program and as in-house counsel for the D.C. Housing Finance Agency.  Then private practice in D.C.  Left private practice in D.C. to work as a legal services lawyer on the eastern shore of MD.  After two years, relocated to Central NY and took a job with Legal Services of CNY, Inc., where I still work.

Hekia is a 15 year old high school freshman and Aron is a 13 year old 7th grader.  Both keep busy scholastically, athletically, and musically. Hekia plays piano and sax, Aron, the violin begrudgingly.  We live in an old farm house overlooking Skaneateles lake, six miles from the village.  But have lamented failing to purchase and preserve the open space next door when it was for sale last year.  Since then it has been sold and purchaser has "improved" it with a 4 bedroom house.  That is, suburbia is encroaching.  I'll stop now and go jogging before we sit down for Easter dinner.

PS: Trish is employed with a pre-school program in Syracuse that mainstreams disabled kids with those who aren't. It's challenging work, but she enjoys it.

Married a wonderful man, Fran Manale from Oswego 10 years older than myself.  We had 2 sons and 1 daughter.  He passed on very suddenly in 19 years ago.  I was single for 8 years, moved to Charlotte, N.C, met and married another wonderful man, John Hodges, 11 years younger than myself, thinking of course marrying a younger man I'd not have to go through that ordeal again.  However, John transcended 2 years ago when he ended his own life. It was a great loss.

Both men taught me so much on my journey in life, and of course I wondered why me God? They were such good men and I loved each one so much. Later I realized because of those experiences I was developing something far greater in my life then I could ever imagine.

None of my children are married and I have no grandchildren ...... I told my kids not to be in any hurry to have children, because I still had a lot to do with my life before I started spoiling grandchildren and anyways I'm too young for that stuff yet. You know what; for the first time they listened to what I said.   I just tell them I'm not getting older I'm just getting better.

I guess you could say I followed what Katherine Hepburn said.  I Want to look back on my life and say I did it all.  Instead of looking back and saying I wish I had.

I've done everything from doing  a consumers talk show  to being in business for myself and with my second husband, which was the most fun and greatest experience of my life, as a professional Fugitive Recovery Agent.  I certainly will have some stories to tell my grandchildren when they do come along.

My last job was working as a personal assistant to the president of a major medical co.  headquartered in Atlanta.  Although it was not quite as challenging or as exciting as Fugitive Recovery, it came along at a time that I needed to do some major healing of  my spirit, and the job was there at the right time and brought a richness to my life. It made me take a look at what I've really wanted to do as far back as I can remember, and so I am leaving this position to pursue my dream.

Have you ever wondered if there is life after death? Or have you ever had dreams about loved ones who are no longer alive? Have you ever wondered if we can cross over and communicate with the other side?  Well that is my line of work.  I am what you call a sensitive, medium or a crossover.  (No not a cross dresser!)  which means I am able to cross over to the other side and connect with loved ones, relatives or whomever.  It started when I worked as an Agent and developed into a major field.  I worked to pursue fugitives throughout the country using this talent.  I developed quite a following and so I've decided to continue with the work that I love so much in this area. You might have seen or heard of  John Edwards on TV, that is the type of work I do.

Thank you John once again for contacting me.  Make it a great life!!!!!!

After Fulton High, graduated from Syracuse University with a major in Chemistry, then graduated with an M.D. degree from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, interned at St. Joseph's Hospital, completed a residency of 6 years at Johns Hopkins Hospital, joined the academic faculty at UCLA Medical Center in LA, CA, then eventually went into solo private practice in Beverly Hills. Spent 4 years between 1976-1980 as a consultant on the advisory committee in Maternal Fetal Medicine for the Food and Drug Administration in Washington, D.C. After many years in practice, decided to retire and take up the game of golf with my husband, who was a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA for many years. We spend our summers in LA where we play golf at the Riveria Country Club and our winters in the desert area east of Palm Springs. We are great travelers and have bicycled through the wine countries in France. I return to Fulton every year, usually in the summer to spend time with my Mother, who still lives in the family home where I grew up. Plan to be there this summer in early August for my Mother's birthday.

After high school, I attended SUNY in Morrisville for one year and then joined the Marine Corps. I spent nearly six years in the Corps in the far East and then returned to Fulton and worked for Nestle for a little shy of two years. I moved to Texas in 1968 and have been here since, working for Petrochemical companies. At the end of May 2002 I intend to retire. I have a lake cabin on Lake Livingston, 80 miles northeast of Houston, and I plan to live there as a home base. We will travel around the US in a small motor home between fishing seasons on the lake.

Have 3 children: Julie Stowell, age 38, married with 2 sons, Lynne Boyce, age 35, divorced with 1 son, and Steven Boyce, age 28, unmarried. I worked several places since school in 2001.  I retired from Fleet Bank after 20 years. Allen is a retired school teacher. I am enjoying not having to be in a place from 9 til 5 every day.  I do get out and do Pampered Chef shows (selling kitchen tools in homes etc.).  This I can do as I want. Allen is and has been the afternoon DJ on the local radio station even when he was teaching. It seemed a natural progression from being a music teacher, and he enjoys it.

Graduated from Dean Junior College in Franklin, MA with an AAS degree in Construction Technology in 1963. Worked for various architects, engineers and construction companies in the Syracuse area until I went to work for Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation in 1979. There I worked in Property Records Engineering and System Building Engineering until 1983 when I transferred to the construction site for the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Generating Plant which was under construction at that time. I spent the next 11 years performing various assignments in the Construction Management Department which monitored the work performance of the building contractors engaged in the construction of the plant. I retired from Niagara Mohawk in 1994 and now I drive a propane truck (just to keep busy) delivering propane (heating fuel) to commercial and residential customers. I was married to Suellen Rutledge (PJ's sister) for 11 years and have 2 daughters. My older daughter gave me two grandsons, but unfortunately was killed, along with her oldest, in an car accident at the age of 24. I am remarried to a great lady that my daughter introduced to me before her untimely death. We have 5 adult children between us and 3 grand children with a fourth on the way. We enjoy motorcycling and ride with a group of great friends to various places throughout the northeast.
